Tea Time

Notes on Jo Malone's Tea Blend fragrances, ahead of their March release.

A Collection Built on Ritual

The Tea Blend series marked Christine Nagel's final collaboration with Jo Malone, bringing together three fragrances structured around the rhythm of a day: Morning Tea, Afternoon Tea, and After Dinner Tea.

Tea itself carries a long story. Legend traces it back more than 5,000 years in China, to the emperor Shen Nung, who ordered drinking water boiled for safety. During travels, dried leaves are said to have drifted into a pot of boiling water, infusing it by accident and giving rise to the practice of tea drinking. That sense of discovery and everyday ceremony seems to run through the collection's approach to scent.

Notes Across the Day

Each interpretation in the Tea Blend line leans on a distinct set of notes, moving from brisk and citrus-led to warmer and spiced.

Morning

Bright & Citrus-Led

Built around grapefruit, giving the earliest hours of the collection a crisp, waking character.

Afternoon

Classic Assam Character

Centered on Assam tea notes, echoing the familiar warmth of a traditional afternoon cup.

Why It Matters

With a March release on the horizon, the Tea Blend collection closes out Christine Nagel's work with the brand on a note that feels personal — tying a centuries-old story about tea to a modern set of fragrances. For anyone following Jo Malone's releases, it's a small chapter worth watching.
